August flew past!

I don't even know where the month of August went!!!  Getting back into the school routine has made the whole thing a blur.  Good thing I have my trusty iPhone to help me document what actually went on!

Brooklyn & Blake brought home a paper from school regarding band/orchestra sign ups.  Both kids immediately expressed an interest and I immediately cringed.  I mean, Matt and I both played instruments through high school, but I just couldn't imagine adding ONE MORE THING to our schedule.  It's already hard enough to get the kids to practice the piano during the week and we're not quitting piano!  Brooklyn agreed that she had too much going on already, but Blake persisted.  After giving him the rundown on being committed for the school year and practicing another instrument, we decided that we would let him give it a go.  One morning before school, we brought out the 4 instruments we owned- a cello, a trumpet, a trombone and a clarinet.  Everyone got a chance to try each instrument.  It was a VERY loud morning!  haha

In the end, Blake chose the clarinet, so I took my old clarinet down to have it cleaned, purchase new reeds and a beginning book for him.  Band is twice a week before school starts, and Matt is able to drop him off on the way to work.  So far he's liking it!
