additional August

Brittney came into town so of course we had to spend a bit of time together~

The Southwestern Eye Center doctor's retreat was in Sedona at the Enchantment Resort, which we stayed in a few years back.  Of course I'm always grateful for a weekend away but this years was kind of lame.  I do enjoy seeing several of the other doctors' wives and catching up and getting an overnight with Matt!

We picked up Grandma LeBaron and took her with us to the Mesa temple visitor's center for FHE!

Groupon had a deal for the Children's Museum of Phoenix and we never pass those up!!  We planned a trip with Melissa and Paityn.  Could seriously spend the whole day here!!

I've signed up to help in Preston's classroom once a month.  I got to go with him to lunch (so early at 10:30am!) and let me just say, it's a little shocking what some kids bring for lunches!  Yikes!

Matt performed his first wedding as bishop.  Tyler Fairbanks was one of his young men back when Matt was YM president.  He did a great job!  Tyler and Rhiannon are the cutest!

New Instrument for Gav!

At the end of the school year, Legacy announced that they would be offering a Mozart track for 4-6 grade.  Up until now, all the students participated in the Athlos track, which had four days of PE along with emphasis in fitness and nutrition.  This Mozart track would be similar but with four days of music instead.  Part of the program includes choosing an instrument, either band or orchestra.  Gavin immediately told me he wanted to do Mozart track starting this year.   When Milano's came to the school, we went down and signed a rental agreement on a little viola!  He was so proud to have his own instrument!

Hayden also started back up with ballet!  She loves going to Sister Jones' house every week and frequently asks me, "Is dance next day??"  All her little Primary friends are in her class so it's extra fun!

Back to School!

This is one of those years that I absolutely was not ready for the kids to go back to school yet.  It's practically a crime that our kids start school in JULY!!!  Well at least the younger two did....  The twins followed close behind, with their first day today.

Preston could.not.wait to be at school the whole day because he gets to take a lunch!  I kept teasing him that I signed him up for half day first grade so he could still eat lunch with me every day.

I know I won't get away with this much longer!!

Even though Legacy is K-8, we have decided to move Brooklyn and Blake over to Heritage Academy in Queen Creek.  This has not been an easy decision by any means.  We are trying to think long term with this choice.  It'll be a completely different high school experience than what Matt and I had and this means they'll be wearing uniforms their entire high school career.  As a parent, you're always hoping that you've made the best choice for your kids.  The Gateway campus has only been open for a couple years, but based off the popularity and prestige of the long-standing Mesa campus, I don't doubt that everyone will be happy with this arrangement.  The class schedule is unique in that they have a block schedule- 4 classes on M/W, 4 classes on T/Th, no school on Friday EVER.  Not sure how I feel about that, yet.  It will take some getting used to, but I'm hoping I can use it to my advantage every once in awhile!

And then there was one!!  It's just me and Hayden, ALL DAY LONG!!  I'm looking forward to doing whatever we want during the day!
