Dance Wrap Up

It's been an interesting year since we switched over to the competition realm.  Brooklyn was primarily taking ballet with a couple years of jazz thrown in.  This was a bit of a stretch for her, more diverse in styles of dancing, less pretty, soft ballet arms.  There were times she came home from dance, saying it was hard and the teachers were being hard on her.  I reminded her that we only grow through hard work and I'm happy to say that she's made tremendous progress!  I love watching her dance and have a hard time not getting emotional.  She's happiest when she is performing!

Brooklyn had her dance recital last weekend.  She performed 4 different routines- contemporary, hip-hop, bollywood with junior company and a group combo number with all three companies combined.  The highlight of the night, however, was a group of dads that performed as a surprise to the girls.  Matt was a part of it and it was HILARIOUS!!!  I was having a hard time recording it because I was laughing so hard!!!  (Matt is third from the right at the beginning)

At the very end, they handed out participation trophies and then in each company class, the teachers selected one student to receive a special medal for having a positive attitude and being a hard worker.  We sure love Brooklyn and all the work she's put in this dance season!

She participated in one last dance competition tonight, both the contemporary and bollywood routines.  Not everyone was able to come to her recital, so Jen and Emily, my parents and Joshua came to cheer her on at the competition.

A few pictures we purchased from the event photographers~
She's the one with feet in the air

We celebrated with a little gelato from Frost afterward,
where we bumped into the Curtins, who had the same idea!

Some pics from an earlier competition that I forgot to include~ I Love Dance competition in downtown Phoenix (4/19/14)
