October Break

Like the past few years, we headed up to Utah for Fall Break and this time, Matt got to come with us!  We are ever so grateful that Weston and Jennie allow us to invade their house for the week!  It makes for some craziness, with 9 kids running around!!

The morning after we got there, Jennie and I ran an *almost* 5K up in Draper.  It was FREEZING!!!

Since we knew we'd be traveling to Utah for Fall Break, I asked Matt if he could pull any bishopric favors and get us tickets to General Conference.  He asked, but wasn't sure if it would be possible, then one day, he came home with tickets!!  We took the three oldest kids to the Saturday afternoon session.  Technically, you're supposed to be 8 years old to attend, but we snuck Gavin in since he's only a couple months shy.  It was an amazing experience to be in the presence of the prophet, Thomas S. Monson.  It's not every day that you get that opportunity!  Sweet Gavin even leaned over and asked if we could go down and shake President Monson's hand.  I wish, buddy, I wish!

Sunday evening, the Poulters came over for dinner.  It was good to have the trio back together!  Sometimes it's hard to believe that it's been over 9 years since we all met when our husbands started optometry school together in California!!

Before we even got to Utah, the kids were asking if we would be hunting witches at Gardner Village again like last year, so of course we had to go.  It was kinda like herding cattle getting all the kids to move in the same direction, but they had fun!
Josie & Hayden were like two peas in a pod

Hayden was a little apprehensive about all these ugly looking ladies.
Therefore, I seized the opportunity to get her picture with a witch.  Priceless!
Witchy-Poo!
Look at all those kids!

Hayden was happy once she got her cookie!

Tuesday, we drove up to the This Is The Place Heritage Park, where there is a whole village to explore.  I had no idea how expansive it was!!  We spent a huge chunk of the day here.

Some work, some play

Trying their hand at leather stamping-

Oh, there's Hayden!!

At the schoolhouse, learning how to write their names using the Deseret Alphabet~

The pony rides were a favorite!

Riding the train for the grand circle tour

Tuesday night, Trenda, Jennie & I escaped for dinner and shopping!

Wednesday, our family met up with a couple cousins that lived nearby.  It had been YEARS since I had seen either Kristin or Ann!
The baby girls watching some afternoon Elmo.
That night, we were hoping to go to Cornbelly's, but it was pouring rain, so instead, we took the kids to Chuck-o-Rama and Scheel's (sporting goods store).  They all thought they had died and gone to heaven!  There is a HUGE ferris wheel inside Scheel's and since the baby girls couldn't ride, the dads took the kids for a ride.  Blake got one rotation around, freaked out a bit and asked to get off.
The "big" kids~ Sydney, Blake & Brooklyn
I bought the Rainbow Loom to take with us on the trip and the kids clearly kept themselves busy!

This was the best {good-bye} picture we were getting of all the kids...

As we headed back toward Southern Utah, we stopped in for lunch with Grandma and Grandpa Sorensen.  They always love a little company, even if we don't stay for very long.

We stayed with Scott & Charla Thursday night.  Friday morning, I got up and went running with Uncle Scott at the elevated track at SUU.  We took a trip over to the cemetery to visit Grandma & Grandpa Adams.

We're so glad that Scott & Charla are always willing to let us crash for a night at their place!
(Hayden was doing this while we were doing this ^)

Friday afternoon, we drove to St. George, did some shopping and got to spend more time with family, Michele and Preston.  It was so good chatting with them and letting the kids burn off some energy before we headed home.

We thoroughly enjoyed the time that we got to stay with the Barneys (it's never easy to say goodbye to such good friends!) and those family members we were able to see.  Now we're trying to convince the Barneys that it's THEIR turn to come visit us in Arizona again! ;)
