Philmont

Philmont Scout Camp was an amazing experience! we prepared for a year and a half. One of the best parts was that Derek and I both had a chance to go with separate crews that went on the same trek made up of our wards. It was amazing hiking over 100 miles in a 2 weeks period. A few days in we caught a rhythm and 15 mile days seemed like nothing. It was hard being the only true adult in my crew as Tyler Fairbanks was the other adult. The terrain was beautiful and the wildlife was fantastic. We even had the chance on our second Sunday on the trail to wake up extra early, hike over a mountain(~15 miles) in hopes of making sacrament meeting with one of the members of the General Young Men's Presidency. We made it just in time as it started to rain. Elder Ochoa was there and even though we stunk and were filthy he loved seeing us and our dedication to make it to church. There were too many experiences to include on the blog, but I will put together a dedicated book to go along with the slide show.
