THIS is HALLOWEEN!

With our Fall Break trip, Halloween snuck up on me FAST and with five costumes to figure out... eek.  I try to give my kids some freedom to choose what they'd like to be, perhaps with a little direction or persuading from mom. ;)

Preston always comes up with THE MOST random costume ideas and insists that that's what he wants to be.  This year, a raccoon.  Etsy to the rescue!  I found him a cute little felt mask and tail then had him wear grey clothes, done.

Hayden chose to be a black kitty cat, which was perfect because Brooklyn had been a cat year ago so I already hat the headband and tail.  Black leotard, tights, a tutu and we were good to go!

Gavin was easy- Mario.

Brooklyn was easy- a peacock.  Adorable!  Plus fun eye makeup!

Blake was in a tough spot this year, being 12.5 years old.  Too old for the cutesy character stuff, mom's not too keen on the gruesome, horror stuff many tween boys seemed to be going for.  We searched websites til we found an idea- a RUBIKS cube!  All it took were a few simple items; square box, colored cardstock and electrical tape.  He got TONS of compliments on this one!

Since Halloween was on a Saturday this year, and Friday was a half day (class parties)/no school for the twins, I sent Halloween lunches with the kids on Thursday.  I also sent in these cute pumpkin cutie oranges and banana ghosts for Preston's class party! I always have fun gathering ideas and planning what to do!

We had our ward Trunk or Treat + chili cook off, which never disappoints.  The kids had fun playing the carnival games inside before filling their buckets to the brim with candy!  Blake even won an award for the Best Homemade costume!

None of the kids really care to dress up during the day ON Halloween, which makes it easy to focus my efforts on this sweet little thing!  Kinda went with a non-traditional outfit that turned out so cute!  Oh, I just love her so much!!

Pumpkin carving with the kids, clothing optional.  Haha!  Preston would live in just his undies if he could, nakey child!

TRICK-OR-TREAT!!

We let the oldest two go trick or treating with friends.  When did I become old enough to have kids that old??!  We also let them invite a few friends over after trick or treating for a movie in the backyard.  I made some treats and they watched The Haunted Mansion on the projector.  We might have to make this a tradition!
my first go at gluten-free cupcakes (for one of the kids' friends)

 The great candy sort!
I made this skelly to teach the Primary kids "Hinges" in honor of Halloween! ;)
