It means you are watering too much. That happened to my father in law last year. He especially had a problem where the water would puddle. Now that the grass is grown in, Dan changes the watering time to 3 times a week for 6-8 minutes.
David had a lawn business back in the day...he says that Jen Hilton is right, and watering less should fix the problem.
